Dumayat, Binalonan, Pangasinan - The DepEd Memo. No. 223 s. of 2016 or “Strengthening the Implementation of the Gulayan Sa Paaralan Program (GPP) in Public Elementary and Secondary School” is a nationwide program to address malnutrition and promote vegetable production and consumption among school children.
GPP 2019 is successfully implemented in Dumayat Elementary School through the unity and collaborative effort of the parents, barangay officials, teachers and learners. The parents, headed by the PTA President Joan Desamito, prepared the bio-intensive garden and helped the school in cleaning the school surroundings. The barangay officials, headed by Brgy.Captain Rodelito Alibuyog and Kgwd. Ireneo R. Ochinang, dug the compost pit, repaired the nursery and pruned the trees. The teachers and learners planted different kinds of vegetables like eggplant, petchay, sili, ampalaya, mongo, tomato, camote, cassava and “gabi”. Aside from planting vegetables, we had natural concoction, vermiculture, mushroom production, nursery and mini-forest.

DES Gulayan sa Paaralan on November 12, 2019.
The first round and second round evaluation for the “Search for Outstanding Implementers” of  2019 showcased the oneness and cooperation of the school and community and for the sustainability for the school’s GPP. This program entails that if everyone will be involved, we will be able to come up with varied, healthy and good harvest in Gulayan sa Paaralan. GPP is not only about the numbers or rank but how it helps the school in promoting health and wellness, backyard gardening and instilling the values of agriculture and planting.
Ricardo S. Tambogon, the school head of the school, emphasized that Gulayan sa Paaralan gives the community and school the true meaning of partnership in bringing health and continued improvement of learners achievement both in academics and extracurricular activities.
Indeed, this activity promotes unity, cooperation and partnership among parents, barangay officials, stakeholders, teachers and learners.
