Upgrading Teachers on Strategies and Approaches in Teaching Science by Marlyn C. Casabar

Upgrading Teachers on Strategies and Approaches in Teaching Science
by MARLYN C. CASABAR (Organizer/Proponent)

Mrs. Casabar discusses the seven  best strategies
in teaching Science.
Teaching strategies and approaches in Science are unique in nature because they require collaborative learning, experimenting, observing and the use of the Science processes. The objectives of the LAC session conducted in Dumayat Elementary School on February 12, 13 and 14, 2020 were described as an “escaped route” or a “away out” for the learners and teachers because Science is “learning by doing”. This three-day activity seeks to achieve the use of   different strategies and techniques in teaching Science in the elementary level and equipped teachers with necessary skills on how to make Science learning more meaningful, engaging and interesting.
Mrs. Sibolboro demonstrates teaching in Science.
The merits of using of different strategies in Science teaching and learning process is to enhance the retention and makes learning permanent, makes the lesson real and learning more interesting, enhance creativity on the part of the teacher and pupils when they are involved and enhances the mastery of Science content.
Mrs. Eduarte presents different techniques in teaching Science.
The discussion was very impressive and enjoyable as Mrs. Marlyn C. Casabar and Mrs. Maricel S. Eduarte presented several effective and research-based strategies in Science teaching. Mrs. Janet G. Sibolboro demonstrated the teaching in Science using lesson exemplar while the teachers of Dumayat Elementary School were very cooperative. The activities were engaging because it showed how to teach in the 21st century environment. The demonstration teacher also utilized ICT and cooperative learning style. The LAC Session is a fruitful activity because everyone actively participated and became interested in Science teaching. They were given the chance to reflect on the new ways of developing learners Science education and making progress to become 21st century teachers.
As a concluding part of the LAC session, awarding of awarding of certificates to working committees, participants, speakers and organizer took place in the afternoon with a simple pictorial.
