Kindergarten Learners receive Free Writing Books

Republic Act 10157, or “The Kindergarten Education Law” made Kindergarten the compulsory and mandatory entry stage to basic education. Section 2 of this Act provides that all five (5)-year old children shall be given equal opportunities for Kindergarten Education to effectively promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development, including values formation so they will be ready for school. This was so since the Department of Education (DepEd) believes that Kindergarten is the transition period from informal to formal literacy (Grades 1-12) considering that age five (5) is within the critical years where positive experiences must be nurtured to ascertain school readiness.

As a little act of supporting the needs and growth and development of this young learners, the school provide free writing materials for them to practice their writing skills. The book is written by Mr. Danilo I. Lagasca, individually printed in the school. The book is pure writing activities with enjoyable contents and easy to learn and follow activities.

Mr. Tambogon, the school head, always believe that supporting the needs of learners is a great motivation for them to learn better and achieve optimum encouragement in their schooling. Children who complete a standards-based Kindergarten program are better prepared for primary education.

Education for children in the early years lays the foundation for lifelong learning and for the total development of a child.

DES distributes Health Kits

Dumayat Elementary School- To provide essential personal hygiene items to learners and to advocate health and wellness, the school distributed the health kits provided by the SDO Pangasinan II to all learners of Dumayat Elementary School.

One of the DepEd’s goals is to protect the learners from illnesses in order for them to study well and one of the most effective ways is to practice good personal hygiene through the health kits. Maintaining personal hygiene is necessary for many reasons including: personal, social, health, psychological or simply as a way of life. Hygiene is a universal need so these hygiene kits are distributed to learners. Having proper hygiene practices could prevent many illnesses. This factor was a major component to launch this Hygiene Kit Advocacy. The Health Kit includes toothpaste, toothbrush, and soaps.

DUMAYAT ES distributes FREE Reading Materials to Grade 1 Learners

Dumayat Elementary School- Free Filipino Reading Materials  were distributed to the learners of  Grade 1 as part of the school’s advocacy on Project RED: Reading Enhancement and Development initiated by Mr. Ricardo S. Tambogon, Head Teacher III.   The Filipino Reading Material entitled “Halina at Matutong Bumasa: Mga Unang Hakbang sa Pagbasa ng Filipino” is authored by Mr. Tambogon while the writing materials entitled “Agsurat ti Husto” is written by Mr. Danio I. Lagasca.

The project aims to enhance the reading, comprehension and writing skills of learners in the early years. Reading properly, correctly and understandably must start in the foundation years of every child. According to Mr. Tambogon, also a reading advocate, this project  gives the young learners the opportunity to gain assisted cognitive development, develop empathy, gain deeper understanding and build stronger relationships.

Parents were grateful to receive the materials for their children. According to the parents, “The school’s reading advocacy has given us valuable insights into what a community-based approach to early literacy can look like. And the feedback so far from our kids had been jumping-up-and-down-excited, and a slightly calmer but equally enthusiastic reaction from adults.”

More advocacy activities are lined-up for the holistic development of learners and to achieve quality education to all learners!

GAD focused on Building Positive Discipline and Winning Trust and Confidence
by Elisa M. Ochinang

To be able to implement the school’s vision and mission of quality education in our school, it is imperative that teachers should update their knowledge and skills in the field of teaching by attending in-service trainings .In-Service Training among teachers plays a vital role in the improvement of teaching and learning.
The 3-day School-Based Learning Action Cell (SLAC) on the Gender and Development aimed to improve and facilitate teaching-learning for the 21st century learners was held on March 4-6, 2020 at Dumayat Elementary School. As per DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2016, this School Learning Action Cell aims to provide more knowledge/skills of teachers in teaching Gender and Development to be used in their daily teaching. Through this In-Service Training, teachers will enhance their skills and confidence in teaching Positive Discipline suited to the learning area. It helps teachers to develop their techniques while teaching in Gender and Development.
On the first day (March 04, 2020), Mrs. Elisa M .Ochinang, chairman/proponent, oriented the participants/teachers on the things to be tackled in the training/SLAC. She discussed the techniques in using Positive Discipline in the classroom. She emphasized the importance of techniques in using positive discipline in their daily teaching that will contribute much in the improvement of teaching and learning process. Proponents of positive discipline claimed that this method can help strengthen the bond and increase trust between parents and children. It also removes the battle between the two of you, teaching your child that it is possible to respond to difficult moments without threats, bribes, yelling or physical punishment.
On the 2nd day ( March 05, 2020) the lecturer about Winning Trust and Confidence of Co-workers was Mrs. Maristela E. De Peralta. Winning trust and confidence  is enjoyable and interesting topic because it relates more on the real situations of teachers and the people in one organization. Actions matter most if you want to earn employees’ trust and engage them in the organization. Starting with the leader, it takes involvement at every level to create a deep bond of believably that motivates employees to put forth effort needed to make their organization successful. Our school head, Ricardo S. Tambogon, provided additional learning and introduced some techniques to be done on winning trust and confidence of teachers.
On the last day of the LAC session, Mrs. Margarita  R. Ochinang presented her lecture about Cognitive and Behavioral Theraphy.
The In-Service Training was greatly contributed on the Gender and Development specifically on positive discipline, trust and confidence and therapy techniques for teachers.
A workshop like this will help improve teacher/pupil performances. Feedbacking, open forum and distribution of certificates were done on the last part of our training.
